Welcoming Michael Hegarty into his new role as Education Manager and Deputy Principal

Michael Hegarty began his career as a qualified tradesman in the construction industry working on both residential and industrial projects. During this time he developed a passion for training and education which led him to a university pathway.
After working in both state and catholic schooling for many years he began his employment at Tec-NQ in 2016 as an English teacher. A role that he was uniquely qualified for as it combined his trade and education backgrounds.
Michael worked across years 10, 11 and 12 mentoring and teaching Tec-NQ students while furthering his studies by undertaking postgraduate studies for both Honours and Master of Education specialising in Educational Leadership.
In 2020 Michael began a new role as Head of department – Year 10. Since this time he has implemented many changes that bolstered the year 10 program and saw an increase in classes from 5 to 8 by the start of 2023.
“Education is not about putting greatness into people, it is about providing opportunities to allow them to find it within themselves. My greatest personal achievement is seeing the success of both students and staff at Tec-NQ.” Michael Says.
With the announcement of Tec-NQ’s new CEO and Principal Ross Jorgensen, Michael now undertakes a new role of Education Manager and Deputy Principal. This role will see him manage all aspects of education for years 10, 11 and 12 at Tec-NQ.
We would like to congratulate Michael and welcome him into his latest role within the college.
