Meet our Head of Boarding – Luke Papworth

The end of 2024 marked an exciting new chapter for Tec-NQ with the appointment of Luke Papworth as Head of Boarding.

Luke joins the residential community with a wealth of experience, having been part of The Southport School’s McKinley House team since 2018. As a former boarder himself, he understands the unique challenges and opportunities that boarding life presents, allowing him to build strong, meaningful connections with students.

Luke is passionate about creating a student-centred environment where wellbeing, independence, and personal growth are at the heart of boarding life. With a Bachelor of Business and currently in his final semester of a Master of Teaching (Senior) at the University of Newcastle, he is dedicated to ensuring students feel supported in both their academic and personal development. His approach focuses on equipping boarders with essential life skills that will help them transition confidently into adulthood and the workforce.

A strong advocate for student wellbeing, Luke is committed to fostering a positive and inclusive culture at Tec-NQ House. His rural and farming background, along with his enthusiasm for sport and recreational activities, allows him to engage students in a hands-on and dynamic way. He is also eager to implement programs that strengthen connections between boarders, their families, and the wider school community.

Luke believes boarding should be a transformative experience—one that students look back on as a defining chapter in their journey. His proactive leadership, focus on holistic student success, and commitment to creating a ‘home away from home’ will ensure that Tec-NQ’s boarding program continues to thrive.
