Jordan Gains Real-World Experience with Alliance Electrical Townsville

Boarding student Jordan’s Year 12 classroom looks very different this term — and that’s exactly how he likes it. Instead of sitting behind a desk, Jordan is out in the field, getting hands-on experience through a work placement with Alliance Electrical Townsville.

“This work experience has sent me all over town,” said Jordan, enthusiastic about the opportunity.

“I’ve been doing quite a bit at the Townsville University Hospital,” he added. “It’s really good — I’m learning a lot.”

Jordan’s placement is part of Tec-NQ’s structured work experience program designed to give students a real-world insight into their potential career paths. For Jordan, this means stepping into the temporary role of an apprentice electrician, working alongside experienced tradespeople and contributing to actual projects around Townsville.

At the Townsville University Hospital, Alliance Electrical is currently completing electrical works as part of a ward refurbishment project — a major undertaking requiring precision, safety, and coordination. Jordan has had the chance to be right in the middle of it all, learning what it takes to work on a large-scale site.

“Jordan is learning more and more every day,” said Clint, Jordan’s supervisor at Alliance Electrical. “He’s turning up on time, working with the team, and completing real work for us.” Clint has been impressed with Jordan’s attitude and willingness to learn.

“Jordan has stepped up and helped out each and every shift — we’re really happy with his progress,” he said.

Alliance Electrical Townsville, a locally owned and operated business, is committed to supporting the next generation of tradespeople by offering opportunities like these. For Jordan, it’s not only an educational experience but a chance to see what life on the tools is really like.

As Jordan continues his placement, he’s gaining valuable insight, building practical skills, and getting a real taste of the career he may one day pursue — and from all accounts, he’s making the most of every moment.
