MEM30219 Certificate III in Engineering Mechanical

This qualification defines the skills and knowledge required of an Engineering Tradesperson - Mechanical within metal, engineering, manufacturing and associated industries.

Course information

The skills associated with this qualification are intended to apply to a wide range of mechanical trade work, including undertaking fitting, assembly, manufacture, installation, modification, testing, fault finding, maintenance and service of mechanical equipment, machinery and the use of machine tools.

While undertaking this qualification, apprentices gain the skills and knowledge to:

  • study drawings and specifications to determine suitable material, method and sequence of operations, and machine settings
  • fit fabricated metal parts to produce machines and equipment
  • use precision measuring instruments
  • operate machining equipment and lathe
  • form metal stock and castings to fine tolerances using machining tools to press, cut, grind, bore and mill metal
  • cut, thread, bend and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines

Successful completion of the course will result in the issuance of a Certificate of Qualification and a nationally recognised MEM30219 Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade.

There is no licensed outcome for this course.

No prerequisites

Participants must be employed and registered under a training contract as an apprentice.

Tec-NQ conducts a learning, literacy and numeracy assessment as part of its enrolment process.

Eligible apprentices who meet the Queensland state funding requirements will be charged a set fee of $1.60*/nominal hour. Certified training is GST free.

Nominal hours for each unit of competency are provided in the training plan.

Fees are set by the Queensland Government department that is responsible for training. Fees are subject to change over the course of an apprenticeship.

Some students may be eligible for concessions. Fee free training is available for apprentices under the age of 25, who commence or are undertaking a priority apprentice or traineeship qualification from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2024.
