Tec-NQ offers three main streams of education and training accredited programs to both industry and our local community.  These are:

  • School based apprenticeship program which will enable you to achieve your Queensland Certificate of Education and start your chosen trade qualification.
  • Full time apprenticeship training enabling students to complete their trade qualification.
  • Pre vocational and other specialist trade training programs which enable students to develop their employability and enhance their trade capabilities.

Tec-NQ is recognized as being a leader in flexible and innovative learning.  Tec-NQ prides itself on partnering with industry and community to launch highly successful technical careers.

Tec-NQ is both a government-endorsed Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and an Independent School.  The RTO delivers accredited and non accredited training and assessment across a range of industry sectors.  The senior secondary school delivers Yr 11 & 12 senior secondary education.

Tec-NQ is the leading provider of School Based Apprenticeships in the North Queensland region.  The success of Tec-NQ can be attributed to links with clients, industry and the communities that it works in.

Key Capabilities – Training

  • Delivery and assessment of accredited qualifications in construction, engineering, automotive, electrical, business and information technology.
  • Development and delivery of specialist courses for individual companies and industry sectors
  • Provision of short courses such as construction white card.
  • Provision of innovative and engaging e-learning/online learning training courses

Tec-NQ Background information

Initially founded as the Australian Technical College North Queensland the organisation was funded as part of the federal governments Australian Technical College’s program.  2009 saw the closure of this program and the launch of Tec-NQ as an independent organisation in early 2010.

Tec-NQ has grown progressively over the past 4 years and currently trains over 500 apprentices.  The school based program enrols 300 students in Yr 11 & 12 each year.  Tec-NQ facilitates the employment of 56% of all School Based apprentices in the region.
